Andie the Great
The narrative unfolds on the day Andie returns to her childhood home, moving back in with her parents. Her mother, an assertive talk therapist, immediately urges her to map out her life plan, while her father, a once-renowned playwright, adopts a more carefree approach. Facing unemployment and restricted indulgence in day-drinking, Andie's year at home brims with tumult. Outwardly bewildered about her life's purpose, she redirects her focus to ineffectively assisting others in their quests; coaxing an old high school teacher out of the closet, enlightening her younger brother on feminism, and navigating a series of unsuccessful job attempts. Despite the lack of circumstantial changes, Andie undergoes a transformative journey during these months, becoming more self-assured and accepting of her current place in life.
An over-achieving executive, feeling the strain of her demanding career, makes the bold decision to quit her job just before Christmas. Seeking a chance to rediscover herself, she travels to her father's country inn. Upon arriving, she finds the once-bustling retreat eerily empty and learns that her father is under tremendous pressure to sell the property. Determined to revive the inn and her father's spirits, she embarks on a mission to breathe new life into the beloved family business.
Christmas Wish, A
An Insurance Loss Adjuster for many years, Martin spends his time assessing other people's problems and ignoring his own. His wife Angie aspires to greater things, and when finances hit rock bottom, she leaves him for a suave loan shark one week before Christmas. Martin is crestfallen but forced into continuing his day by the overly exuberant company secretary, who has scheduled several claims for Martin to validate. With a heavy heart, Martin sets off, but his day drastically goes from bad to worse with a catalogue of extraordinary and humorous encounters with a flirtatious elderly widow, a corrupt Doctor, a lascivious female escort, and a dead rat. It is only at the funeral of a client that Martin has an epiphany; and with the help of his unlikely friendship with a teenage thief and perhaps a sprinkling of Christmas magic, life suddenly changes in a truly remarkable way.
